Rupert Fawcett is a British cartoonist & writer, best known for his critically acclaimed comic strips, Fred, Off The Leash, On The Prowl. Fred was published in Midweeks & The Mail on Sunday for many years. Off The Leash appears in The Sunday Times Magazine. Rupert's cartoons have over 1 million followers on Facebook .

"I am not sure who Fred is really. He is a combination of several things, suburban man, an inventor of ridiculous things like the ten-man spade, and a big baby. His life is also a combination of recognisable domesticity and surrealism." - Rupert
Rupert went art school wanting to be a 'serious painter' but kept drawing cartoons and always enjoyed them. During and after art school Rupert had a few wild years in which he started a punk band and drank too much, then in 1985 he cleaned up his act, got back onto the straight and narrow and a short time later created Fred which was Rupe

"It is really the perfect medium for me because it gives me the combination of visual and verbal communication. I guess I am a cross between a writer and an artist and somehow one of those mediums on its own would not be enough for me. " - Rupert
